ANOTHER INTERNATIONAL PLAYER FROM STOCKTON

STOCKTON Junior Section produced yet another international player this weekend {JUNE9th} when Paul Borg [JNR} took the field to play for MALTA

PAUL PLAYED RUGBY LEAGUE ON SATURDAY FOR MALTA AGAINST DENMARK
Paul for those of you who cannot remember played rugby for Ian Ramsay school, our juniors, Durham Couny u16s and the North of England u16s. He left the area when he went to university and now lives in Malta. Many older players will remember his father a former policeman who played for the club for a lot of years.

Brendan. Not sure how near Widnes is to Malta, but that's where Paul was playing at the end of last season. He's played there for several years.

The Maltese squad for the Denmark game has him playing for Widnes St Maries who are a local amateur RL team who play on a pitch next to the Widnes RUFC ground. There is, however, a thriving amateur RL scene in Malta.

Would his father be "Chas Borg" who I believe at one time was an officer in the dog section. I recall that he was a sometime prop of considerable girth and uncompromising style. Terry used to tell the tale that Chas and his mutt were on duty and had cornered a miscreant somewhere dark and lonely. The terrified toe rag begged "call him off, call him off !", at which the dog said "down Chas , down Chas !".

The very same one, Mick. Paul Borg's (Snr) parents were from Malta.
