Former winger from 1970s & 80s era has sadly passed away

The news has reached us of the recent death of Mick Rees after a long struggle with cancer.

Mick was part of the Colts squad that reached the final of the Lormer Cup in the early 70s (coached by Roger Atkinson and including Mick Conlon). He also played senior rugby in the 70s and early 80s, mainly for the 2nd and 3rd XV.

He was a former Grangefield pupil from the same era as his close friend Greg Laverick, as well as Dave Brooks and Peter Armstrong. Although not at the most recent one, he did attend one of our players' reunions a few years ago.

Our thoughts are with his family

Service and cremation to take place on Tuesday, August 5 at the Chapel of St. Bede, Teesside Crematorium at 3.50p.m. Family and friends please meet at crematorium chapel. Family flowers only, donations in lieu, if desired, to the Chemotherapy Unit, University Hospital of North Tees, retiring collection at chapel.
