20 more points take SCC top after 4 games
Stockton Third's continued an impressive start to the season with a 4 wicket win against South Northumberland.
On winning the toss, South North elected to bat first. The opening bowling partnership of Phil Appleton and Rashid Zahir once again made early in-roads into the top order. Appleton finishing with 0-8 off his 6 overs and Zahir, signing off before his trip abroad to tie the knot, registered 2-13 off his 6 overs. Supporting spells from Ben Stevenson and Tom Coulthard ensured that South North could only reach 60 all out. Coulthard was comfortably the pick of the bowlers with 6-14 including a hat-trick.
In reply, Stockton appeared to be teetering at 19-4 with Ben Stevenson, Joe Gratton, Robbie Gratton & Chris Parr all back in the pavilion. However, useful contributions from Dan Barton (15) and some lusty blows from Coulthard (33) saw Stockton home with 4 wickets to spare.
The season continues against South Shields at Grangefield on Sunday.
