Club Development Monthly Draw

Many of you who visit the Club on a regular basis will be aware that over the past few years we have made great strides in improving the facilities for our players. These improvements have included a total refurbishment of the changing rooms to provide 6 good sized changing rooms, as well as a referee room, first aid room, small gym and 2 separate shower areas. Additionally, just in the last 12 months, £65,000 has been spent on drainage work to no. 3 pitch and the training area with 5 new training lights also in the process of being installed.

However we do not want to stop there. Those of you who have been associated with the Club for many years will know that the main fabric of the Clubhouse is almost 50 years old and is certainly showing its age, therefore what we would like to do is to undertake a total refurbishment of the Clubhouse and at the same time erect an indoor training hall alongside, but linked to the main clubhouse, so that we can provide indoor training and coaching facilities for our players, as well as space for a wide range of other sports and activities.

Outline plans have been produced and the initial estimate of the cost is circa £400,000.

Our plan is to tackle this major project in 4 phases:-

Phase 1 - erection of the Sports Hall (26mx17.5m) and a small extension to the main clubhouse to provide new toilets and kitchen.
Phase 2 - installation of a pitched roof to cover the clubhouse and changing rooms.
Phase 3 - internal refurbishment of the Clubhouse to provide a larger bar area, club shop and separate meeting room.
Phase 4 - Tarmac the car park area.

Our target date for completion of phases 1 to 3 is 2015, which as it happens will be the 50th anniversary of the Club's move to Hartwell Lane, with phase 4 to be completed by 2017.

To succeed with this ambitious target everyone associated with Stoke-on-Trent Rugby Club will need to pull and work together to raise a significant proportion of the cash needed for this project.

To kick start the fund raising the Club is launching a monthly "Development Draw' that will, if we get a substantial number of members participating, raise around £10,000 a year. The draw offers 11 monthly cash prizes of £100, £50 and £25 plus annual prizes of £1000, £500 and £250. The draw will take place on the last Saturday of each month, except for the annual draw which will take place at the May Ball. Details of all winners will be published on our website and displayed in the Clubhouse.

You can participate in the draw in the following ways:-

Gold membership - £10 per month and giving you 7 entries
Silver membership - £5 per month and giving you 3 entries
Bronze membership - £2 per month and giving you 1 entry

If you already subscribe to the "100 Club' and/or "Millennium Draw' you need not take any action as your subscription for the new "Development Draw' will be transferred over.

However if you do not presently contribute to either of these two draws and would like to become part of the Development Draw then please complete the application form and bank standing order forms and return them to me at the club or email it to me at stephen_beck@btconnect.com

(Please find the application form and Bank mandate forms under the Club Info section of the website and then Documents).

I do hope you will take this opportunity in helping to take your Club forward, as we all strive to provide the very best for players and spectators alike.
Finally if anyone has any suggestions or ideas to help the Club raise the substantial sums involved then I would be more than pleased to hear from you.

Best wishes

Stephen Beck
