Festive round up and whats coming this week.

Festive round up and whats coming this week.

The page and players alike have been in recovery mode since the festive period so on behalf of everyone at the club we hope you all had a good Christmas and are enjoying a good start to the new year.

The boxing day game was a real sucess with around 40 juniors and 30 seniors taking part in touch and full contact games. Hopefully you spotted the group photo in the Gazette recently? To round off the junior section off the day a group of pupils from Laxdale, lead by Derek Finlayson, very bravely performed the Haka in front of a variety of parents, junior and senior players. As far as we know thats the biggest junior turnout on boxing day that the club has had. It was also great to see so many parents along supporting the kids.

Moving into the new year training resumed for the seniors last Wednesday and for the juniors on Saturday. The seniors were also thrown in at the deep end with there first game of the year at the weekend down in Elgin against Moray. "Unforuntely for you boys you came up against the strongest squad we could put out." Said the Moray coach. This still couldnt soften the 93-0 scoreline. Although the squad of 14 that travelled deserved a lot of credit for the commitment shown to the club and to their fellow players, it was a game to forget.

With 2 home games on the way over the next couple of weekends these are the games that were highlighted as must wins. With more players avaliable for the 2 fixtures we'll be looking to take the full 10 points and take a big step towards securing our safety in the league, hopefully allowing us the rest of the season to kick on and rise up the table. After these 2 games on the 16th and 23rd, we are then on a brake until another home game against Ellon on the 20th of February. Its worth noting that the Ellon game is another one that we will be expected to win. K.O time for this weekends game against Aberdeen Wanderers will be confirmed in the next few days.

In short, the next 6 weeks or so are going to be very important in dictating how Stornoways season ends.

Training for the Seniors will be at Smith Avenue, Tuesday 6:30pm, Wednesday 6:00pm. With the 15's and 16's on Wednesaday after school on the all weather until 5:00pm and Saturday, most likely at 11:00am (depends on senior K.O time) down at Bayhead. Any new comers of any age looking to get fit in 2016 and get involved a great sport are more than welcome to come along to the relevant training session.

Keep an eye on the page and website for more info throughout the week and beyond.
