Oakwood battle back twice to deny Swans

Points on the board at last for the Swans.

Storrington were denied their first three points of the season last night, as Oakwood battled back twice from a goal down to share the points in an even well-contested game.

The Swans made the trip to Oakwood on a fine summers evening with several key players still missing from the squad. Both Charlie Witham and Jordan Suter came into the starting line-up to make there full debuts for the club.

Storrington took the lead at the end of a well contested first half, after Luke Jearum buried a low drive from the edge of the box following a misplaced Oakwood clearence.

Half Time 0-1

Oakwood came out the brighter in the second half and soon equalised, the Oak midfielder pouncing on a cross at the far post to punish the Swans back line.

The Swans thought back well, and soon regained the lead. Kelvin Lucas, once again, got in behind the Oakwood defense before squaring for debutant Jordan Suter to convert at the back post for a deserved debut goal.

Into the final 10 minutes, and just as the Swans were starting to believe, Oakwood once again levelled as a long diagonal ball split the defense leading to the Oakwood forward finishing well.

Full Time 2-2, probably a fair result on the balance of a well contested contest.

Lots of positives for the Swans to take away following last Saturday's defeat. Suter and Witham were both outstanding on their full debuts, with Lucas and Jearum also impressing.

Onto Saturday and the small matter of a local derby at home to Billingshurst.
