Stow U15s produced an excellent performance to beat Lydney in the County Plate Final at the Prince of Wales Stadium. Twenty minutes of almost perfect rugby meant the final was as good as over well before halftime. OllieThorley scored his first of four tries after just one minute, running straight through the Lydney defence, and then repeated the act two minutes later. Constant Stow pressure soon produced a third for Thorley and Ellery Miller then went over from a tapped penalty to put the game out of site before Lydney had any possession. It was now a question of not who would win, rather by how much.

A late tackle on the full back from Josh Pearson that ended the Lydney player's final seemed to turn the referee's attention towards any possible Stow infringement and the next half an hour saw a stream of penalties in Lydney's favour and brought a halt to Stow's attacking dominance. Three players were sin binned, disrupting Stow's structure but despite at one point being down to thirteen men they only conceded one try; a reflection of the quality of the defensive effort and Stow's dominance.

Despite the attention of the referee Stow scored further tries from Archie Hayward and Thorley again as Lydney tired late on. This was a one sided final and only Stow's indiscipline avoided a larger margin of victory. Stow were dominant in all phases of the game and were worthy champions. This was a performance to be proud of. Stow have beaten all opposition in the Plate and is a reminder that they should be competing for the Cup, not the Plate. The final score, Stow 38, Lydney 7.
