An impresive days work at Longlevens saw Stow come out worthy winners.
Stow Under 11’s were drawn against St. Mary’s Old Boys in their semi final. Stow were always on top and dominated from the start with the forwards in rampant form. At the break Stow were two tries up, both scored by Archie Benson and a third by John Tidman in the second half saw them cruise through to the finals.
STOW 30 CLEEVE 10
Cleeve had swept aside Coney Hill in their semi final so were now up against Stow. Cleeve’s form was good having not lost all season and like Stow their defence had let in very few tries. However, they had not read the script and came up against a most determined and skilful Stow side that showed maturity well beyond their years. Early pressure came from Cleeve but for all their ball they only managed to score one try. Stow hit back and began to command the break down with the forwards taking control. Archie Benson scored to level the game then Oscar Roberts raced in to take Stow into the lead. Cleeve hit back with a try from a penalty move to leave the game balanced and 2 all at the break. A gentle piece of advice at half time saw Stow take complete control of the game, Cleeve survived on scraps and when they did have any possession they were driven backwards. Tries from Theo Hayward, Archie Benson and two from Jack Williams put the game well out of reach and see Stow deservedly take the title of Gloucestershire County Champions and make history as the only Stow side to win consecutive County Cups. Congratulations to you all.
