BUCKINGHAM 31 STOW 19
This was by far the best performance for some weeks with Stow challenging third placed Buckingham all the way.
A quick start by the home side saw three early tries with two being converted but Stow had did have their chances but failed to capitalise. Stow also lost prop Louis Chapman to a series chest injury which didn’t help but the Stow pack held their own. Stow got onto the score sheet just before the break when TED HOLMES took a quick tap penalty which caught out the home sides defense, Dave Hill converted.
Half time score 19 – 7
The second half was very even, Buckingham struck first with a converted try after a charge down kick then Stow hit back when BEN ULMER managed to block a clearance kick and touchdown, Dave Hill converted. Buckingham then were awarded a penalty which they kicked to touch and from the resulting lineout drove over for their final score. The last ten minutes saw Stow contstantly in the home side half and deservedly getting their third try when another penalty was quickly taken resulting in an overlap which JAMES HOLMES exploited. Stow pushed for their try bonus pint score but just ran out of time but a very encouraging display by all.
