Our boys had a great time at Whitecraigs today. We had our own warm up until their players arrived, then we took part in a really friendly fun training session with Whitecraigs, involving line drills, fun games, pads tackling and a 'bull dogs' session. The coaches were very welcoming and supportive to all players including during our 15 min game at the end.
We played 8 a side with 2 subs, great turn out (despite the snow in Strathaven when setting off!) from Andrew Aitken (P3), Jack Blackwood (P2), Ewan Campbel P2), James Clow (P3), Hamish McGee (P2), Hugh Morrison (P2), Sam Ramsay (p1) Mckenzie Roy (P2), Sonny (P2), Murray Wilson (P3).
It was good to see our team working well together with some great passes and line formation after Andy Aitken's diligent coaching, and the boys largely remembered to drive the ball forward! Whitecraigs were a well organised team who got the first try, which spurred our team on, with great trys from Murray, Ewan, Andrew and Hamish. Sonny, Sam and Jack showed great attack and managed several touch tackles against their opponents while Hugh, James and Mckenzie covered the pitch well and gave some effective passes. The boys were delighted with their 4-2 win which was partly aided by a generously minded Whitecraigs coach who I think was tougher on his own side regarding off sides than on our team! but well done all and thanks to all the parents who came along to support us.
