SHARK ATTACK AT STRATHAVEN RUGBY CLUB

Strathaven Sharks 15 - Uddingston XV 27

Fortunately no one was seriously injured, only a few tired and battered bodies to end the day.

Strathaven SHARKS (2nd XV), the latest team in the Community, played their second competitive match on Saturday 28 January. This was a cold, wet and generally miserable day to stray from the front of the fire. The opposition was a select team from Uddingston, who made the effort and travelled up to Whiteshawgate.

The Strathaven team showed many signs of improvement from their first competitive match, but as agreed in the post mortem, lack of fitness was the real winner.

The average age for the Strathaven team was 40 (ish) and for Uddingston 20 (ish). The home team started of slowly and found themselves 10 - nil down within 15 minutes, then they started to play a bit of rugby and playing to their strength of close controlled passing managed to score two good tries. Half-time 10 points each.

The second half was better contested by Strathaven and they really should have taken the lead on a couple of occasions but just failed to score.

In the end, Uddingston ran in 2 winning tries and although Strathaven were down 3 players they competed to the final whistle.
Well Done the Teams.

As a new Team we are still looking for players (no experience needed) but becoming part of a TEAM IS ESSENTIAL. Meet at the Club House 7.30 on Wednesday evenings, weather dependent on inside or outside training sessions.

We would delighted to hear from anyone in the Community or Beyond who is interested in Sponsoring the Sharks.

NEW TEAM, NEW OPPORTUNITIES FOR ALL
