Saturday – Training from 10am for U15's-U16’s, THE STAG DINNER. Sunday – U15’s away to Hamilton.

Hi folks,

Metafit is on as normal tonight (Thursday) from 7:30pm, it’s a half hour class and is £3 per person, all welcome.

We’ve heard nothing but good about the boys who travelled to France last week to take part in the Six-Fournais weekend and hear that great rugby has been played, we expect a full report on the weekend to be available in the near future so keep your eyes peeled for this coming to you shortly. Well done to all of the squad who travelled across, their coaches and all of the supporters who helped to raise funds for this great trip. Congratulations guys you are all a true credit to Strathaven RFC.

Training is on this Saturday for the U15’s and U16’s, the club house will not be open for training due to getting ready for the Stag Dinner so please come to training ready to play. Also this Saturday our P1 – S2 squads are all travelling to Dalziel to take part in their tournament all players must be at Dalziel for 9am.

On Saturday evening it’s the club’s annual Stag Dinner guests are asked to arrive at 6:30pm for a 7pm start, to date we have sold 96 tickets so thanks for the support. This is Strathaven RFC’s biggest night of the year for all of the gents of the club, stooped in history it’s also the clubs longest running night. On the evening attendees will enjoy a three course meal with tea and coffee, table service, speeches from our very own President Garry Tough and Club Captain Joe McCallum, the 1XV awards ceremony and two guest speakers. This year we have two highly prestigious after dinner speakers in Jim “Buller” Reid who we would bill as highly funny and extremely entertaining. Along with Jim we have former Scotland International captain Peter Brown, Peter is also an independent member of Scottish Rugby's appeals panel and acts as a match and discipline commissioner for both the RBS Six Nations and the Heineken European Cup so we expect he will have some excellent Rugby based stories for us. This really is a great social night for all men of the club to come together for a lot of laughs and a lot of “refreshment”. If you’ve missed out on your opportunity to get a ticket for the evening we’re prepared to see what we can do for you if you can contact our social convenor Nicola Alder – 07711032464, she’ll be happy to try and accommodate you.

Our U15’s squad are away to Hamilton on Sunday kicking off at 2pm, we invite everyone to travel the short distance to Hamilton and join us there for what’s set to be an exciting friendly. This match will also be used to assist with team selection for the Quaich final, good luck to the entire squad.

The Glasgow Rugby 7’s tournament is also vastly approaching to find out how to get your tickets visit the website here;

As we mentioned last week there has been tremendous interest regarding the U15’s Quaich Final at Scoutstoun on Saturday the 10th of May and we are keen to get as many parents, friends and fellow players to come along and support the U15 Squad vs. Glasgow Hawks. We have therefore organised a block booking with Glasgow Warriors as well as a Supporters bus! There is a separate order for supporter’s tickets and bus. Please see attached information / order forms for information on how to order your tickets and follow the clear instructions on the form.

Please note that the details such as Pick-up time, KO time, etc may vary slightly - we will advise when confirmed. Also please be aware that we may need to vary charges slightly depending on the level of interest in tickets and bus - please pay the amount indicated at the moment and if there is a need for a small surcharge we will collect on the day.
