Strathmore RFC 95-0 Perthshire 2nd XV

Strathmore had their first run out of the season at Inchmacoble after pre-season games away to Preston Lodge and Alnwick. The production line of young players stepping up from the Strathmore Sharks youth system was on show with Rory Collins, Connor Blackmore, Scott Strachan, Ewen Hart, Ben Fotheringham, Daniel Cashley, Kevin Hood and Fraser McKay an ex Angus Colt all making their senior home debuts for Strahmore against Perth 2nds.

Perth kicked off and Strathmore instantly went forward and then attacked wide with McKay splitting the defence and chipping through for Kiely to collect and score. Ross added the conversion.

More tries quickly followed with the Strathmore pack continuing to get their backs on the front foot who then pushed the ball wide and McKay continued to put his teammates into the gaps, most notable was his Sonny Bill Williams offload to Gary Reid who nearly burst with delight on touching down.

While the attacking rugby was hugely impressive the number of unforced errors and poor discipline will have been noted by Coach Brown and will definitely be punished by league opposition in the coming season.

The final score finished 95v0 with 15 tries being scored and young winger Rory Collins scoring the pick of the bunch. There were many positives to be taken from the game but the team fully understand Orkney away will be a far more intense game this coming Saturday.
