He was club captain 1954 - 55 and 1956 -58 and club president 1959 - 60 and 1970-71
Iain Bell tells us
" Doug was a club stalwart throughout the 50's and 60's filling the roles of both captain and president. He also refereed many of our home games before the introduction of neutral referees and I was on the wrong side of his decisions many a time! A great friend of Ginger Cook they attended Murrayfield many times and I last met Doug at the 75th Anniversary dinner.

The club has received some mementos from Dougs estate which we will soon have on display
