The Angus Development Rugby team which is made up of Montrose 1sts and Strathmore 2’s had a fantastic result on Saturday winning the local derby against Stobswell with an impressive 87 - 5 victory. The game was played in Montrose and the win moves the Development team into 7th position in the Division 3 Midlands league.

The Brechin Bruce over 35’s rugby team made the short trip up the A90 to Stonehaven with a strong contingent of Strathie faces to play Mackie Mammoths and Dunkeld Ospreys in a round robin event on Saturday. Despite losing to the Mammoths in the first game they held the Ospreys to a draw in their second game with Kenny Christie (2) and Paul Wilson scoring their tries.

In Rugby League news Strathmore Silverbacks Rugby League Team made the long trip down to Millom in Cumbria on Saturday. The Silverbacks put in a storming first half performance leading 18 - 14 at half time, Millom took up the challenge in the second half and eventually ran out 30 - 18 winners. A great experience for the squad in their first outing in the Rugby League Challenge Cup..!

With no scheduled games for either Strathie 1st XV or the Development team this coming week, the next league games are the 10th Feb where the 1st XV travel to Alloa and the Development team host Bo'ness.
