Hard fought game against Glenrothes

Strathie sharks S1/2 match report 6th December

Strathie sharks were away to Glenrothes in Fife for the first game of the New Year and it was against a team who were larger and on average a older S2 team. It was decided to play 3 20 periods with 15 players on each side. Has the sharks had only 13 players and Glenrothes 19, Strathie borrowed 2 players from them.
The 1st period started at a fast pace with both teams attacking strongly and some good work in the ruck from the sharks. The game was even but some poor tackling from Strathie let Glenrothes in to score 2 quick tries. Strathie pulled 1 back but Glenrothes scored 2 more tries before the end of the 1st period.
The second period was again played at a fast pace with both teams producing some great line breaks. Strathie started to come into the game and scored 2 tries both converted by Callum with good support play from the forwards and backs. However poor defence let Glenrothes in to score twice more.
The 3rd period started with Glenrothes getting on top and they scored 4 tries without reply. The strength in depth of Glenrothes was starting to tell and gaps were appearing in the sharks defence only some last gasp tackles from Logan and Callum stopped further scores. However the never give up attitude of the sharks helped them score 2 more tries. With legs getting tired Glenrothes scored 2 more tries right at the end. The Final score 42-19.
Well done to all the lads for showing great effort playing a bigger team without any subs and not giving up right till the end of the game. Also thanks to all the parents for they support and for helping with lifts so the lads could get to the game.
