David Edmeades has been named the Student of the Year for Scotland by Sky Sports Living for Sport

Congratulations to David Edmeades, who plays in the Strathmore S1/S2 team, who has won the Student of the Year Award for Scotland as part of the Sky Sports Living for Sport Program. David, who attends Perth Grammar School, ran a 5k last year with his class mates as part of the program and this run along with playing for the Strathie Sharks has helped him boost his confidence and overcome anxieties associated with autistic spectrum disorder.

David and his family travel down to London on Friday 15 March 2013, where Olympic gold medal winning sprinter and Sky Sports Living for Sport Ambassador Darren Campbell will be presenting the overall Student of the Year Award 2012. The overall winner will receive a £100 sports voucher and his or her school will also receive an extra visit from an Athlete Mentor and £2,000 towards their school’s next Sky Sports Living for Sport project. The regional finalists will each receive a £50 sports voucher, a year’s free Sky Sports subscription for the student and school, a trophy and certificate, as well as the chance to be interviewed by a Sky Sports film crew. The school will also secure an extra visit from an Athlete Mentor and £500 towards their next Sky Sports Living for Sport project.

David's family would like to thank the hard work of Tom O'Brien and Lindsay Campbell who have coached David at Strathie and whose support and encouragement have also played a big part in building his confidence.

This is a fantastic achievement for David, and the club would like to wish him the best of luck for the final on the 15th March.
