Strathie win the Factory Cup!
A thrown together team of mostly cricket virgins sneak victory!
Follwing an urgent plea from former Strathie player Mark Stewart on Saturday Iain Fletcher pulled together a squad to compete in today's Factory Cup at the cricket club. Despite being mostly new to the game the team won 2 out of 3 games in the round robin to advance to the final where they surprised the opposition with 60 runs. Some expert bowling, and some not so expert bowling, secured the trophy, a £100 bar tab and a £100 donation to Lippen Care.
Highlights of the day included Lee Alexander's three runs and not out from five overs, Dave Smith's winning bowling in the final, Iain Fletcher unsurprisingly winding up the opposition 'proper' cricket player in the final and an excellent cameo appearance from Robin Young.
Squad: Mark Stewart, Iain Fletcher, Lee Alexander, David Brown, Colin Bell, Stewart Ross, Dave Smith and Robin Young.
Management Team/Cheerleaders: Stuart Gray and Bruce Morrice.
