Training day 17th November

The Strathmore Rugby Club Community Trust, in partnership with Trust Rugby International (tri), Montrose & District RFC, Brechin RFC and Strathmore RFC are delighted to announce the arrival of ‘Unified Rugby’ to Angus as we work towards providing opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to participate and benefit from Rugby.

Unified Rugby – pioneered by Trust Rugby International - enables people with disabilities to participate in controlled contact rugby. tri aims to proactively tackle any limiting assumption that would prevent individuals, communities and cultures coming together to just try Rugby. Unified Rugby is used across Scotland as a means to build confidence and social skills; by gathering individuals from different backgrounds and communities, with and without disabilities, as well as varying degrees of experience.

Along with the support of our friends from Montrose & District RFC, Brechin RFC, Strathmore RFC, Angus Alive and Angus Disability Sport – we will be running Unified Rugby events where anyone is welcome to join in - with the aim of a hosting our first Unified Rugby match on Saturday 16th March 2019 at Inchmacoble, Forfar – prior to the Calcutta Cup match (England vs Scotland), which will be live on the big screen in the club house.

In preparation for the match in March, we are looking for players (over the age of 18) and volunteers – with and without disabilities to come along to an initial tri Unified Rugby Training day 10am-2pm on 17th November 2018. As well as the tri training, there is the opportunity to get a further rugby fix with a full itinerary for the day at Inchmacoble as follows:

Saturday 17th November 2018 at Strathmore RFC, Inchmacoble Park

10am-2pm: tri Unified Rugby Training Day

12.30pm: Legends Lunch (Guest Speaker TBC) – Lunch tickets available via Nick Welsh
