Sun shines as future stars celebrate the end of the season

On Sunday 30th April, the minis and juniors had a fantastic Awards and BBQ celebration to round off the season. And the weather was just right. Congratulations to all players. Many thanks to the parents who brought food along to feed the 80 plus hungry children. We also thank Dominos Pizza in West Croydon for their generous contribution.

Chris McCarthy Award Conor Oresanya
Conor has demonstrated Rugby Core Values (Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline, Sportsmanship) through the season – On and off the field. This season, he has played for his school's U14s A team 15s and 7s sides at The John Fisher School, Purley, his club, Harlequins Urban Rugby Squad and Surrey. When unable to train, he has helped with coaching the younger year groups and is a good mentor to them and his peers.
On the day of the awards, he was representing the club in an invitational Surrey u14 squad playing a French touring side CD46 at Warlingham RFC. His award was presented to him after the game by Simon Philips of Surrey Rugby and Jeremy Wanin, Conseilier Rugby Territorial, COMITÉ DÉPARTEMENTAL DE RUGBY DU LOT

AND FINALLY......
Over the summer please continue to spread the word and tell friends and parents of our fantastic rugby club. We need new players across the age groups.
A final call for volunteers and prospective coaches. You do not need to be a former rugby player to coach. You just need to be willing to give up two hours every Sunday between September and the end of April. The club will apply for the DBS check on your behalf and then we will organise and pay for the training. Helping out will stop you from catching a cold during the winter months of just standing on the touch lines.

Here’s what our u14/15 coach Lee and ex-England captain Lewis Moody have to say about coaching.

See you all on Sunday 10th September 2017 at 10am sharp!
