This week takes Streatham on a trip up the road to play Merton. The home fixture was a tale of two halves with Streatham dominating the first half and then throwing the match away in the second. However in the week just gone Streatham struggled to put away Old Ruts whilst Merton narrowly lost to Old Georgians. Merton rightly deserve their league position, however the fixture really is a winner takes all situation as only 1 point separates the two teams in the league.
On team news, Streatham will be without stalwart Jack Peddle who finishes his season early as he gets married next week in Cyprus. Martin Hindshaw and Jonny Korcz are also away. This means that there will be two enforced changes in the pack with Michael James Parker returning from his holiday in the backs, Owen Howells stepping up to start at blindside with Jason Edwards as the bench cover..
In the backs there is welcome news with the return of Chris Geary and Ed Williams which should help the backline click more effectively without the need for Michael Parker filling in somewhere in the line. Russell Moorcock pays the price for Geary's return, dropping to the bench as the backs cover for the game. Jordan Staples is carrying an injury and is rested giving Vinny Auguiste a start on the wing. With Anthony Matthews away, James Andrews returns in the centres.
On a selection front this week Charley Johns a.k.a. Chisel becomes the first player to play 20 matches this week, with Opeyemi Odelusi 1 match behind. Chris Geary and Ed Williams both getting their 10th appearance of the season.
On the points scoring front Kai Cassemis is leading the way with 77 points with Ed Williams chasing on 51. It is going to be a tough call for Ed to close the gap but as he takes over the kicking duties he has a chance to close the gap. Elvin Grant makes up the last of the threesome who have scored 50 points as he leads the way on the try scoring front with 10 tries so far this season.
