Chairman’s Chatter

Today we welcome Ruislip to Whittome Field, and to what we hope will be a great day both on and off the field. Before we watch the battle on the field, where Sudbury will hope to continue their improvement following up on a great display against Tring with a win at Barking and a narrow loss away against Chingford, we will be holding a minute’s applause, and we will also be resting the number 6 shirt for today’s match.
We hope today will be a day to remember before the match even kicks off as we gather to celebrate the life of Mark Pinnegar, and we welcome his wife Denise and sons Sean and Cian to what promises to be a great celebration and fundraising day with over 160 quests booked into lunch. These guests have come from far and wide to join in this celebration, and it is great to see so many names from years gone by on the guest list. It promises to be a great day and hopefully it goes on long into the evening.
The whole point of the lunch is to raise funds to help Denise and the boys through these difficult times, so we have some great items to auction and we are very grateful to all those who have donated the lots. Please dig deep and help make it a great day. It is a shame that some of the faces we will see today we don’t see very often, so if any of you would like to join the club as a VP then please make sure you fill in one of the contact forms that are on the table, or make sure you leave us your email details or some contact details so that we can get in touch about future events.
Back to today’s match. The lads have found this league a tough one. They have had some great matches that they have just not been able to finish off, but every week we continue to develop into a better team. So if we can pull off a couple of wins we stand every chance of staying in this league, and we will then be in a good position to stabilise.
Finally, as you know, we are always looking for more sponsors and volunteers, so if you would like to help the club in any way please look at the sponsorship opportunities within this programme or speak to me direct if you want to discuss what suits you best. We have lots of plans to take this club forward, and these will be announced as soon as they are finalised.
So please enjoy the meal, and then dig deep when you bid for the auction lots, and then please roar on the boys and create a great atmosphere so that this day is remembered for what it is - a celebration of rugby, and those who have played, and those who do play for Sudbury Rugby Club.
