Sunderland and Durham Vets achieved a fine win in a hard fought contest against a well organised Reivers side. Sunderland`s forwards were particularly on form with some great one twos throughout the game between Andy Wilkinson, Craig Togher
and midfield dynamo Neil Sparrowhawk
. It was only the final pass, occasionally trying to force the ball and fine Reivers goalkeeping that stopped Sunderland scoring more. Andy Wilkinson bagged a fine brace with the first being a well taken penalty stroke straight down the middle "Pirlo" style and his second following some excellent individual stickwork. Glen Pearson
had a fine passing game in midfield and Scottie put his usual hard work in down the right hand side. Credit must also go to the unsung defence of Mick Brown, Stewart Douglas
, Mike Lacey and John Robson who all marked well and put in some fine tackles. Keeper Tim also controlled the defence well and made some fine saves including heading a lobbed ball over the bar! As the Veteran`s season comes to a close, Sunderland/Durham Vets are commendably finishing on a high note.
