In April SCTFC hosted a charity day in support of Jamie Sheldon on his journey to beat cancer after being diagnosed late last year. The day turned out to be a great success as a beautifully sunny day encouraged many hundreds to attend as the football community got together for such a great cause. As many of you who attended already know the day was based around 2 charity football matches, with various raffles and other charity events organised to help Jamie.

The two matches consisted of SCTFC and Stratford Town FC's promotion winning sides facing each other, followed by a Jamie Sheldon all star XI taking on another of Jamie's former teams - Leamington.

The day was organised by Jamie's former Manager and close friend Neil Tooth, who great credit must go too for organising the days events and arranging the teams and players to take part.

We caught up with Neil who had the following to say.

"It was great on the day that so many people turned up to support Jamie, just showing what a great lad he is. The atmosphere was great as the crowd really got behind the lads on the pitch which really made the day special for Jamie. His recovery has been made that little bit easier having such great support from everyone involved! A massive thank you must go out to all of the people that attended, the players, managers, volunteers and of course to all those people that donated to a great cause in helping Jamie!"

We also caught up with Jamie who kindly was able to share a few words about the day.

"I would like to say a massive thank you to everyone that attended on the 22nd April, on the day a total of £2,000 was raised which is amazing. The money is greatly appreciated by YPU at the QE Birmingham and myself. I hope the money raised will help young people affected by cancer that are going through a hard time. I'm so glad to be in recovery and looking forward to my future. Hopefully one day I might play football again! Thanks again to Sutton Coldfield Town FC, Stratford Town FC and Leamington FC!"

In addition to the donations raised on the day the Just Giving page also managed to raise a whopping £7210!!!! An amazing total to reach, and a massive thank you goes to everyone who contributed to this for Jamie.

In what was an amazing day for Jamie, it was great to see so many people, including past and present teams mates attend the day. It can't be said enough from Jamie, Neil and us at SCTFC how grateful we are for the support shown - so to all of the people who attended, players, volunteers and for all your donations - Thankyou! You were amazing!
