Five new players arrive at Coles Lane

Royals manager Neil Tooth's busy summer has resulted in the first batch of new signings committing to the Royals for next season. Stuart McNaught, Jamie Ashmore, Chris Sterling, Alex Fletcher and Jacob Barnes have all agreed deals.

The manager had the following to say about his new recruits,

Stuart McNaught will be no stranger as he re-joins from last seasons Division 1 South champions Stafford Rangers. Macca knows what we are all about and he will fit perfectly into how we want to set up next season. He has all the attributes you need for the Northern Premier league and Im really happy we have been able to persuade him to come back.

Jamie Ashmore is someone that I have been after for a while. He started at Walsall Fc and then joined Hednesford before moving onto Redditch Utd and Bedworth Fc. He is comfortable anywhere on the right side and he has great energy in his play and he can also weigh in with goals. As iv said its been a few years in the making getting him on board but Im delighted he has finally agreed and I cant wait to see him in action. He has had a few injuries that have halted his progress but Im confident he will be a huge player for us.

Chris Sterling is a natural goal scorer having scored over 20 goals in each of his last 3 seasons. He finished last season with 23 goals for Tividale and we are very happy to get him as his signature has been very sort after. I'm confident Chris will score a lot of goals at our level and will give us a more clinical edge that we lacked a little last season.

Alex Fletcher is a strong and exciting young midfield player with bags of ability .A product of the Shrewsbury Town Academy Alex then moved onto Afc Telford before joining Tividale on loan last season. Alex is comfortable anywhere across the midfield and can also play in behind the strikers.

And finally Jacob Barnes is a defender who can play at centre half or right back and he joins from Tividale where he swept the board at their end of season awards evening. Jacob is a strong lad and he loves defending. I have no problems throwing him straight in as he has all the attributes to succeed at this level.

"With Phil Male having joined us from Tividale he has worked closely with 3 of these lads and as soon as he came on board he told me we needed to get these lads in as they would improve with us. Im hoping to get maybe another 2 in before we start back but its tough to get players to commit with some of the money that is being thrown around locally. The refreshing thing about all of these lads that have joined is that there first questions were about our plans and what we want to achieve next season rather than how much we could pay and that is a huge thing for me as they will fit in with the lads that have remained form last season."

From all at the Club we would like to welcome the new lads to the Royals.
