Match Report

After their steady start to the season Sutton took on another club promoted through the the play offs as they travelled to face Witton Albion.

Witton made the best start possible when with the wind swirling the ball in the air making it difficult to defend and the defence were at sixes and sevens allowing Steve Tames to run on to ball and fire home in the sixth minute.
The next twenty minutes saw Sutton on the back foot and lucky to only be one down.
Sutton came back into the game in the closing fifteen minutes of the first half and there were good efforts from David Howarth and Gurjit Singh. An effort almost on half time by Howarth when he just lost out on a chase for the ball with the Witton keeper.

The second half continued in the same vain with neither team managing to exert their authority but perhaps The best efforts came from Sutton when Brian Smikle had a shot blocked and substitute Nehemiah Zazi fired in a volley from the edge of the box which was blocked on the line. Sutton continued to try to get the elusive equaliser but fell short.
