Sutton U16's beat Birmingham 4-1

Clouds all-round as Sutton give City the away day Blues!

Sutton entertained Birmingham City today at Coles Lane in quite poor conditions; but from the off Sutton tried to get into their passing game and after 15 minutes there passing was rewarded when after a great move involving Alex O'Keefe moving the ball up to

Max Brogan who then released Lewis Padmore to move the ball into Sam Balls path who played a sublime pass across goal for the oncoming Caden Shaw to finish off a great move for Sutton to go 1-0 ahead!

2nd period and Blues frustrated Sutton from playing and had some success preventing Sutton from adding to their 1 goal in this period

3rd period and after a half time chat and the introduction of three subs Sutton came out with more purpose and within minutes the pressure told when Harry Crook picked up the ball from a Jack Burgess pass and worked himself a great shooting opportunity only for the Blues keeper to make a great save; but unfortunately for him he could only palm it away and the ever industrious Sam Ball reacted quickest to tap home the loose ball.

Sutton were feeling a lot more comfortable now and Harry Crooks introduction was causing lots of problems for the away side and it wasn’t too long before this paid off again when good work between Ball and Crook allowed the wide man to weave into the penalty area and cooly slot the ball under the Blues keeper

Period 4 and again Sutton dominated play and should have added to there score line but for some better finishing , however they did score another goal when Sajjan Sidhu who had previously had a great chance to score picked up a loose ball inside the penalty area and slotted the ball into the corner of the net giving the Blues keeper no chance!

The remainder of the game played out in pretty much the same fashion, however it would be Birmingham who had the last say when a confusion between the Sutton players allowed Guy Williams to finish very cooly past the oncoming Charlie McNabb giving the Sutton stopper no chance.

A good game today in quite poor condition with Sutton taking the spoils

Best of luck to Birmingham for the remainder of the season
