Sutton play Peterborough Sports this Saturday. Peterborough Sports are based in Peterborough and play at the Bee Arena in Peterborough Sports and Leisure, Lincoln Road. The stadium holds 1500 supporters and they play on a 100m x 64 grass pitch. Their nickname is the Turbines and their home kit is a blue shirt, shorts and socks and away it’s a red shirt, shorts and socks. The goalkeeper wears a green shirt, black shorts and black socks.
Peterborough Sports were first formed as Brotherhoods Engineering Works in 1919 and played in the Northants League initially, they then joined the Peterborough League in 1923. The Club only became Peterborough Sports in 2001, when they changed from their previous name of Bearings Direct.
This is the third time we have met Peterborough this season having lost 2-1 in a cup game previously and also 3-1 in the league, a game we should have got something out of with Sutton having the best of the chances that day.
Peterborough are sitting pretty on top of the tree, 5 points clear of Bromsgrove, it’s a two-horse race for the title; well to be honest it has been for a while. A win today would see them all but clinch the title, but hopefully Sutton can delay that a little as they have unfinished business this season with the play off places still up for grabs. A disappointing draw last week followed by a semi final win should put fire in the belly of the Royals today.
This is a game on paper Sutton are unlikely to get anything from, especially having lost the previous 2 games, but as we all know this is football and anything is possible.
Let’s have your support in anyway you can.
Here’s to an entertaining and successful game.
COME ON YOU ROYALS.
