New Players Welcome

Home of a team to be proud of.
Our head coach is Des Lloyd, a level 1 coach who also plays for Swaffham seconds, coaches Swaffham Colts and helps with this year’s U14’s.
He is assisted by Lee Woodward, a qualified referee and parent. Who writes;

"To start as a parent mid season with no perception of what mini rugby was going to hold for my son, then turning up and running around with the mini’s team rather than just sitting in the car waiting for the training to end, it’s been a very enjoyable time developing with the mini’s throughout the season. With further support from Swaffham Rugby Club I have also been able to develop my skills gaining the referee’s qualification earlier this year and aiming to obtain my coaching certification this season. This has been an enjoyable time with more to come I’m sure.

I think we can now call them young men as they move into the U14 youth category playing 15 a side and full pitch. It’s a privilege to be assistant coach, to see these young men develop and strive forward with the passion that they have.
Even in the short time with the young players I have seen changes in skills, attitude and performance. There were many positives last season and to see these players take part in as many as four games in one day and still walk away wanting more is encouragement not only for themselves but for us as coaches.

Obviously the support also comes from the parents whom take and fetch their young players to training and matches and can always be heard supporting their young team.
We hope to see more this season and from a personal view it is great to see the parental support and commitment as this also reflects on the young men we have playing for us.

We have already had a few new players start this season and the return of old players to the team. There is always room for new players and we are always looking forward to new additions whatever their skill level, either from never played to experienced. We always allow new players to join in with matches after initial training as we know that these young men prove themselves on the pitch and this creates a fantastic team bond that we are really proud of from our youth team".
new players welcome. Contact a member of staff below or feel free to turn up at a training session.
