Friday evening swaffham seniors took part in the transitional summer 7s event (TS7E) for the first time. This was for players u24 or guys that are new to the game hence Transition. Swaffham had a team of 11 players that are u24 which is amazing and show what a young side we are. Throughout the whole evening great rugby was played and the team got stronger each game. And must add that there was no training on this it was 11 lads put together to playing rugby and that they did. Swaffham played first against 1 of 2 strong Thetford sides. We held our own but was abit rusty to start but outstanding performance from everyone specially Louies Cooper and Adam potter. But there was a outstanding pass from Captain Matthew Clark on the try line that bounced of the post that was caught and try was scored! However it was on our own try line so not so good but great pass never the less. The game ended swaffham had 3 games on the bounce Mr Max Thompson arrived so things sure where going to change haha so next up west Norfolk on the 2nd pitch the boys stepped up it was end to end stuff tackles came in hard running lines stated to appear the team started working together special mention to George Kerridge, James Freestone and Alex Clark who can't all ways get to Saturday games because of work put 100% into this evening showing all of us what we miss out on a Saturday afternoon. Next game saw us play 2nd of 2 Thetford sides on pitch one again this game was going to be tuff however the boys were awake and stepped up again seeing end to end stuff one of the outstanding moments of the night saw Thetford running through clearly in for a try NO Mr Matthew Clark chased him down and stopped him 5m out to also win the ball back and head back up the pitch with the rest of the team saw swaffham score what would be the full length of the pitch try which resulted in fantastic hands and hard running from Nathan Watson with support from Max Hudson and everyone else. VIDEO WILL FOLLOW. Swaffham finally had a break but last game was against GT Broadland this was the game of all games it was a cracking match again end to end stuff which saw Ross Bolingbroke making try saving tackles and hard running lines breaking GT Broadland's defence countless times but the moment of the match was a play which saw Andy Harris draw 2 defenders and a gave a pass that would only be seen by Sonny Bill Williams to Adam Potter to go through and score which would clench the win.
The evening was really good for swaffham showing off the youngsters and what they can do the future is bright. We was also awarded the team of the tournament.
A big thank you to all the players that played this evening thank you to all that came to watch and support us but also a BIG thank you to Captain Matthew Clark (Fish) for leading the lads tonight showed great captaining skills and lead by example will be a great Captain this year.
