Pedlars bow out of the Emirates FA Cup with grace

An entertaining fixture played in the right spirit of the game saw the Pedlars come second to opposition that play at two leagues higher than them. All could have been different, Joe Jackson smashing a volley from twenty yards at the mid-point of the first half, clearly heading for the top right hand corner, the Bedford keeper with the save of the game turning it around the woodwork. An injury to left back, Alan Woodcock saw Jake Platten replace him, Platten himself just returning from injury getting unexpected minutes from the game. Bedford going one up in the last minute of the half, the attacker given too much space to run on.
The Eagles made it two on sixty four minutes and put the game to bed with a third with nine minutes to go. Swaffham earning a well deserved goal in the eighty eighth minute, Alex Vincent shooting from eighteen yards, the ball spilled by the keeper, Blake Stangroome following up netting from twelve yards. The Pedlars leaving the Eyrie in good spirits, knowing that they gave their all and respectfully representing the town. The League to concentrate on next, Tuesday night they are away to Diss Town and then a local derby Friday evening, Downham Town the visitors to Shoemakers Lane. The next Cup excursion coming up early September when the Pedlars will be on the road to Stewarts and Lloyds, corby in the FA Vase.

The Reserves still finding their feet in the Hadley & Ottaway Anglian Combination Division three, a two one defeat away to Hempnall, Alfie Brindle scoring for the Pedlars. Next Saturday they travel again, this time to Beccles Caxton.
The Under 18's resume their league campaign at home on Thursday evening, Easton & Otley College the opposition.
The Committee of Swaffham Town FC are pleased to be able to tell you that Ian Sherwood has agreed to take on the role of Club Chairman following the decision of Andy Farr to stand down due to work commitments. The Committee approached Ian who spoke to many people involved with the Club to seek their views prior to making the decision to take on the role. Ian has been a longstanding supporter of the Club and the Committee are sure he will be able to give advice and direction to further the good work already in place to provide sport across all ages in the community.
