Sudbury U18s

After wining the Thurlow Nunn North division title,we were drawn away to Woodbrige in the semi final of the league play off . Swaffham started brightly in their purple away strip, with Korben Willis going close with a header which was saved by the keeper. Swaffham were driving the Woodbridge defence back in the first half. Korben Willis then went close again with a header which went just wide. Then from a cross from Matty Blackford a firm header from Jack Prentice was well saved from the goalkeeper. In the 35 minute a lovely through ball from Tommy Hunt played in Korben for a one on one with the goalkeeper which this time Korben made no mistake to make it 1-0 Swaffham.
Second half Woodbrige started the stronger of the sides but not really making any decent chances. It was Swaffham who had the best chance midway through the second half when Matty Blackford was put clean through unfortunately miss hitting his shot which the keeper saved. It was nail biting at the end of the match with Woodbrige putting the pressure on having three corners in quick succession. In the 48 minute Woodbrige breaking down the right hand , the winger played a neat 1 -2 shooting low to Aaron Watson's left hand side who made an excellent save to keep it at 1-0 to Swaffham. The whistle was finally blown in the 52 minute of the second half to put Swaffham in the championship final playing Sudbury U18's on Friday 19 th May at Diss Town Football Club 7-30 KO . Well done to all the boys ! Hopefully all of Swaffham will come and support you on the night.
