After a difficult start to the season, when the 2nds played all of the 1st XIs sides in the League in their opening 6 League games, the 2nds settled down and became a competitive unit, with the primary aim being to avoid finishing in the bottom 3 so as to retain their status in the re-organised League structure. Notable scalps were taken along the way, not least being the highly impressive 2-0 victory on the road against the then runaway League leaders, Cleevillains – especially memorable given the margin of the defeat the 2nds had suffered at home in the second League game of the season. The youthful line of attack was led by Under 16 Welsh schoolboy internationals Rhodri and Ben Jones, who along with the returning Henry Emery got the bulk of the goals during the season. A final record of 7 wins and 3 drawn games was a reasonable return given the poor start.
