Two Magpies represented Wales against a strong Irish Exiles team

On Saturday 12th March, the Cymru Red Dragons played against the Irish Exiles in Llandaff, Cardiff. The Irish team is made up of Irish players based outside of Ireland. There were some familiar faces amongst the two teams on the day, notably the two Magpies representing Wales, Geraint Havard, and Ben Hickey who won his first cap.

In amongst the Irish team were former Magpies captain, Tom Cleary, as well as Frank (we don't know his surname, but we don't need to - he's infamous) who made a cameo appearance for the Magpies in the 2009 season.

The Irish team went on to win the contest with Wales putting in a strong 3rd and 4th quarter. It was a great occasion and proved to be a great warm up for the Wales vs. Ireland rugby game later that day.

Congratulations Geraint and Ben!
