Europe faces the ultimate test against the Australian Institute of Sport/AFL Academy team

The Swansea Magpies club would like to congratulate Joshua Davey of the South Cardiff Panthers and Rhys ‘Gnasher’ Morgan from the Cardiff Double Blues on being named in the AFL Europe squad to face the Australian Institute of Sport/AFL Academy Under 18’s team. The European Legion, as they will be known are made up of players from the Under 21 age category and will take on the AFL’s best young players.

The game is to be played at the Bank of England Sports Centre in London on the 23rd April and will showcase the best Europe has to offer and showcase some future stars of the AFL. Current AFL stars that came from the AIS-AFL Academy include: Chris Judd, Lance Franklin, Joel Selwood, Cyril Rioli, Nick Dal Santo and Steele Sidebottom. It will undoubtedly be a very tough challenge for our boys, but the experience that Rhys and Joshua will gain from being involved in such a game will be priceless, for their own development, and also to feed their experience in to their clubs and the national team.

On the same day Great Britain Bulldogs will play against Ireland in what should be a great game. Hopefully, both the WARFL and the Swansea Magpies will be represented in this game.
