In windy but dry and sunny conditions, our visitors kicked off and with the wind behind them took play into our twenty two. We relieved the pressure but being again kicked back into the twenty two we conceded the first score of the match after seven minutes and trailed 0 – 5. Within four minutes, Nantgaredig had scored a second unconverted try to double their lead. We then came more into the match and began to threaten as we spread the ball wide. After 22 minutes, BEN DAVIES made his debut, replacing Ollie Griffiths with PAUL BECK dropping back from the back row to centre. The next score again went to the visitors with a penalty after twenty six minutes from the 22 for a 0 – 13 lead. We hit back five minutes later when following a tap penalty move within our own half good handling sent Dan Stephens in from 20 metres to score under the posts. Tom Edmunds converted to further reduce the deficit. There being no further scoring, at half time we were 7 – 13 behind.

We kicked off the second half and went straight on the attack with first Dan Holohan and then TOM PUGH being tackled on the visitor’s goal line. Then after two penalty awards on the 5 metre line, our reward came as BEN DAVIES scored our second try near the posts, Tom Edmunds again converted and with the second half less than five minutes old, we led 14 – 13. We again attacked and following a spell in the opposition’s twenty two, Tom Edmunds kicked a 30 metre penalty to extend our lead to 17 – 13 with half an hour to play. Play moved mainly between the two twenty two metre lines in the remainder of the half as our defence prevented the visitors establishing a platform to attack our line and their kicks downfield were either returned with interest or run back to good effect.

We made two further replacements with Jordan St. John coming on for Dai Lees on the hour mark and Mark Davies for Dan Holohan with ten minutes left. The final whistle came with us again camped on the Nantgaredig twenty two and a first victory of the season by 17 – 13 had been achieved.
