The Brewers made it an impressive nine league wins on the bounce after beating Parkgate 4-1 away from home.

TAFC are now top of the NCEL Premier, and face a tough test this Saturday away at Staveley Miners Welfare where they will hope to extend their run to 10 wins in a row.

On Tuesday night, Captain Nick Thompson scored two good goals, while Paddy Miller opened the scoring and Calum Ward slotted home a penalty.

The Gaffer Paul Marshall said: “I was very pleased with both wins over Liversedge and Parkgate. We’re playing some lovely football, but we could have won by more goals.

“There are still aspects of our game where we still have room for improvement, but the squad are gelling together really well and there have been some really good individual performances.

“I thought, down the right hand side George Bissett and Josh Barratt have been combining really well.

“Jonathan Greening and Liam Ormsby have been doing really well in midfield.

“Nick Thompson has come back from illness and has done really well.

“The one area where we’re not doing as well as we should is finishing. I know we are scoring goals, but we should be scoring more.

“We are averaging about 3.7 goals per game which is obviously very good, but when you look at some of the chances we’re creating, we’re not putting enough of them away.

“We need to start taking more of our chances, but I’m sure Mikey and Simon will be speaking about it in training. We are playing some lovely football though.”

Tadcaster travel to Staveley Miners Welfare on Saturday who are currently seventh in the league after narrowly missing out on a draw against Worksop Town on Wednesday night.

Paul said: “We had them watched when they beat Glasshoughton 3-0 a few weeks ago and I noticed last night that they only got beat 2-1 by Worksop, and everyone’s talking about Worksop as potential league winners.

“So we won’t underestimate them because it’s always a difficult game, but it’s on a lovely pitch which should suit our style, so we should be able to get a result.”

Taddy’s game against Staveley Miners Welfare kicks off at 3pm on Saturday.

A bus will be leaving Acomb Green in York at 12pm and Tadcaster’s i2i Stadium at 12.25pm. Adults £10, U16s £7. To book a place contact Emma on 01904 606000.
