The Brewers kept up their NCEL Championship challenge with a hard physical win against fellow title contenders Heanor Town.

The first half showed that the visitors could be dangerous with the best examples being a fierce shot by the striker which rebounded back off the crossbar, also a major scramble in the box. The Brewers took the lead in the 42nd minute as Calum Ward fired the ball in hard at the near post. In the second half The Lions missed some good chances before Carl Stewart clinically finished one on one with the keeper in the 75th minute. The game was sealed with a cool finish by Josh Greening in the 89th minute. Heanor Town had proved worthy opponents who on another day could have got something out of the game with better finishing. They are a dangerous team who now hopefully will take their share of points off other teams at the top of the table. The attendance was 462, the 8th highest attendance for a game in the NCEL Premier this season. This was helped by a big away following from Heanor Town.

The word on The Tweet.

Paddy Miller. Great professional performance today by the boys. Again, the mentality & spirit of the changing room was there for all to see.

Brian Stokes : Went to Tadcaster Albion v Heanor Town today, very even game, difference being Tadcaster took their chances and Heanor didn't.

Jim Hansen. Thought Andy Milne had a stormer today for Tadcaster Albion , two good strikers to keep quiet. Peter Lawrie quality too.

Mark Hardy.
Great result for Tadcaster Albion today. First to get the game on and second to win it with four key players out. Top Job.

Elsewhere in the NCEL, Worksop Town were rained off, whilst Shaw Lane Aquaforce had to settle for just one point away at Handsworth Parramore. Staveley Miners Welfare continued their great form recently with a 5-0 home win against Retford Town to move up 2 places into 3rd place in the table.

Next up for The Brewers is a trip to the East Coast on Saturday to play at Bridlington Town in the first game of a doubleheader against them.

Merry Christmas to all.

Best

Keith Handley.
