Tadley 2nds WIn....
Tadley 2nds pick up first senior win of the season against Gosford All Blacks II
Tadley came into this game again with a vastly changed team, the vp dinner before had nothing to do with it apparently..... This meant Tadley only had two subs for this crunch game, on the other hand Gosford only had 1, and he was also the water boy. Tadley had decided to make the tactical ploy to boost the size of the pack after being a bit bullied against Newbury and Wycombe, this resulted in a good platform for the game. Coming back into the side after a long absence was Charlie Nichol, Sam Andrews, Rhys Clark and Yes I got married Chris Johnson. The game started with both teams keen to make a impression, Tadley put on the early pressure and Gosford were soon caught offside and Tadley used their pack well, quick ball by the forwards out to PD quick hands to Charlie Nichol Try, missed con. This set the scene for the game with Tadley and Gosford both using their strong runners to hit the middle of the pitch to create space out wide. Tadley almost scored straight away with Johnson and Prinsloo both making breaks but having the ball turned over. This didn't stop Tadley for long, and from another penalty quick hands put Dan Folwer through for Tadleys second try, this was converted by PD 12-0. Gosford were keen to get a foot hold back into the game, and from a quick line out they an it wide and scored under the posts, but the conversion was missed. 12- 5. This led to a mad 5 minutes and from the ko Prinsloo smashed the catcher and caused a Tadley scrum, then a quick pick and go and Prinsloo crossed over for the third Tadley try of the half which again was converted. 19-5. But Gosford came straight back at Tadley with their forwards punching up through the middle, and soon a missed tackle let Gosford in for their second try again missed conversion, 19-10. Gosford had a bit of belief and started to create more and more line breaks, but Tadley chased back and great covering tackles from Johnson and Nicole saved the day, unfortunately for Charlie the ref decided he'd done really well and deserved a 10 minute break for a high Tackle. This signalled Half Time with the score 19-10 to Tadley.
Half time also saw the introduction of the 2 Tadley subs with Sam Crawford coming on for Swampy and Mike Jackson coming on for Leo Strange, this did make the line-up bit forward heavy but a bit of rearranging with Rumblow moving into the centres covered it. Soon Tadley carried on were they had left it in the first half with strong straight running allowing Dan Folwer to score his second try, and from the ko Tadley turned the ball over and Johnson burst down the wing and quick ball put in Prinsloo for his second try which was also converted, 33-10. This saw the return of Nicol who made a instant impact again breaking down the left, quick hands across the line put Johnson in for a really deserved try, unfortunately PD missed this conversion, 38-10.
As the game entered the last 20 minutes the game started to open up a little bit more, and again from a quick penalty Gosford just ran through to score under the posts again missed con, 38-15. Inspired Gosford charged forward and pressured the Tadley defence, Tadley responded with hard tackles and managed to get the ball to touch, but again Gosford were thinking on their feet and used a quick lineout again to catch out Tadley and a missed Tackle let them in for their fourth Try again missed con, 38-20.
The game entered the final 5 minutes and the spectators were not to be disappointed, first of all Tadley earned a penalty 8m out and this let Sam Andrews step over for a try which PD slotted over, then Leo Strange returned to the field and was instantly involved with a slick backs move releasing Raymondo who put in Matt Fordham to score again converted, 45-20. The game was almost done Tank had switched to Gosford to keep it even, but Tadley were still not finished and Rumblow was still charging, he will tell you he ran half the length of the pitch but he still got tackled close to the line, Tadley were in close support and a nice offload let Strange crash over the line for the final Try of the game which again was converted. Full Time Tadley II 59 - Gosford II 20.
This was a massively improved performance by Tadley and with Connor Dyment returning next week, and no VP dinner there will be added competition for places, so kiddies get training...... Man of the Match Rich Prinsloo, well done bud.
