Tadley Bandits 36 v Aldermaston II 26
The Bandits entertained neighbours Aldermaston II.
The good weather and firm pitch encourage both team to throw the ball about and lead to a very entertaining game.
Tadley started the stronger and were eager to get the ball out to the backs and test the visitors defence but they stood up well and it took some forward power in the shape of Lock Jo Robertson who charged over from just outside the 22.
Aldermaston hit back with a fine individual Try from full back Dan Colborn and soon took the lead when after using the forwards to go close, they spun the ball wide for winger Charlie James to go over for a converted try.
The rest of the half was pretty even, stand outs for Tadley were N0.8 Leo Strange and hooker Jalen whose work rates were really good. The Bandits levelled the score on the stroke of half time when Nicey showed the pace of old to bound over and make it 12 each at the break.
With a couple of players switching sides the 2nd half kicked off and after an even start Aldermaston created the 1st chance, a charged down kick ahead from Tadley Full back Dan Colborn saw the Bandits scrambling back, the ball was turned over and Aldermaston Full back Matt Watt was away and charging into the Tadley 22 when an excellent cover tackle from the Aldermaston No. 7 stopped him in his tracks. It took everyone including the ref a while to figure out what was happening and after much chuckling and the awarding of the Donkey of the day now sewn up the game continued and Tadley cleared their lines.
Tadley went onto to dominate the 3rd quarter prompted forward by No.10 Lea Hampson. Dan Colborn scored a try showing good pace to go round the Aldermaston defence. This was soon followed when a good lineout drive was taken on by Leo Strange to get the score, converted by Lea Hampson. When Tadley scored again with prop Tom Leng showing good strength going over Tadley had a big lead.
Aldermaston Hit back when full back Matt Watt managed to avoid being tackled by either Aldermaston or Tadley players to jump over from close range to eat into the Tadley lead but when Tadley Flanker Rick Offland added to his season Tally and move into 2nd place on the Bandit scoring list it looked like the Bandits had done enough with a 17 point lead and 10mins remaining but they were forced into some frantic defending, in the closing stages and Aldermaston got a well-deserved 3rd try when the No.7 went over from a tapped penalty.
