Tadley Tigers Under15s hold on to win in the league
Hampshire League 2nd round match versus Portsmouth RFC
Tadley Tigers Under15s started their Hampshire League campaign with a tightly contested home win against Portsmouth RFC. Both teams played with 13 on the pitch due to Portsmouth's smaller squad size and from the kick-off the game burst into life with Tadley captain George collecting the kick-off and evading a few tackles to score. Portsmouth fought back and grabbed their own try with a conversion to take the lead. One more try from Portsmouth, a try from Tadley's Alex and a second try from George kept the score card changing before George kicked a penalty kick to make the half time score 18-12 to Tadley.
The second half was packed with great passing, good running and strong tackling from both teams but it was Tadley that built up what looked like a commanding lead with three tries from Tom, Raff and another from Alex (there was also a disallowed try for Alex). To their credit though Portsmouth were far from finished and rallied very well to score another two tries (with one converted). With Tom scoring his second of the day and George converting it and the score now at 40-24 it looked like Tadley had secured the win but Portsmouth mounted an incredible fightback to score three tries in succession making the final score a grey-hair-enducing 40-39.
The game was played in a great spirit and both teams should be proud of their attacking endeavours as they bagged seven tries each.
