Tameside complete unbeaten February with win over Wigan!
On Sunday tameside Hockey Club took on wigan who sat 2nd in the league and had beaten Tameside 4-1 in the previous encounter earlier in the season.
Tameside started the game in buoyant mood as although they were disappointed to draw the previous day they were unbeaten in 5 games.
The game started well for the home side who managed to get a foothold and some possession in the oppositions half and this possession lead to some chances and some good play from Danny Ryan, Christopher Boardman and Andy Wareham saw Ed Tali open the scoring in the 10th minute. The scoring for Tameside continued in the first half as first Ian Fosatti and then Andy Wareham scored for the home team to make the score 3-0 at half time. Tameside continued to defend solidly as Wigan tried to press for a goal back at the beginning of the first half but stand out performances from Ian Fosatti and Rob McCarthy prevented Wigan from getting back in the game. Tameside also had more chances but they could add to their tally until the 60th minute when the Wigan ‘keeper saved well from Fosatti but he managed to scramble home the rebound with a little help from a defender. That was to be the last of the scoring as the game ended 4-0 and left Tameside unbeaten in six league games.
