Weaverham 159ao (49.3) Tattenhall 160-6 (41.5) - won by four wickets

Despite an off season full of poor weather, Brain Jarrard managed to get a playable track from the 3 days of sunshine and the 2018 season was able to start on time at The Flacca, as new captain Glenn Coppack won the toss and bowled on a hot and bright day against Weaverham.

Alan Brock and Rob Okell took the new ball and both were able to claim an early wicket as Douglas (55) tried to hit out at the other end. Mel Dobson settled into an early rhythm and alongside Aamir Afzal on debut they were able to pick up regular wickets and peg Weaverham back as they were bowled out for 159, Dobson with a superb 5-30 from 14 overs, Aamir finishing with 3-36.

Sean Reeves and Max Harper opened the innings for Tattenhall with Ben Pearce also on debut at number 3. It was Aamir again at 4 who anchored the reply with a good 47 as Tattenhall made good progress toward the total. There was a stutter on 159 at scores level as two more wickets were lost but a rushed single later and the 25 points were secured to make a superb start and set up a good clash at Romiley next week.
