Batting lets Tattenhall down in derby defeat.
4 wicket win for Alvanley chasing 99
Tattenhall 99 all out (44.4 overs) 102 for 6 (33.5 overs) Alvanley CC Win by 4 wickets
Tattenhall's long batting line-up underperformed to hand victory to Alvanley in the local derby. Another toss lost, another insertion, again two early wickets lost. There was a recovery of sorts by Umer (26) and Afzal (17) but no batsman looked comfortable against a consistent Alvanley attack backed up by strong fielding. It wasn't a collapse as such, but wickets were lost at regular intervals but with not much intent from the batsman to score. Former TCC player, Shewring showed a willingness to bowl and mopped up the lower order.
Tatts salvaged some pride in the second innings with a good bowling performance where they pushed for wickets. 99 was not a large enough score to defend as promotion-challengers Alvanley got home by 4 wickets despite a couple of wobbles.
Tattenhall must learn to put together the complete performance if they are to go on the winning run their talent dictates that they are capable of.
