Toughest Test This Season
TRFC U14's have to dig deep
The Taunton boys traveled to Honiton this morning hoping to maintain their unbeaten run this season but knowing what a quality squad they were expecting to meet.
As is expected at this time of the season the ground was heavy and the TRFC team were going to have to adapt their normal style of play to allow for this, the first half was very even with both teams battling hard, eventually from some quality distribution from the half backs Taunton went over but this was the only score in the first half. Some poor play from Taunton resulted in several offside penalties and for some time they defended hard whilst camped deep in their 22, eventually clearing the lines and pushing Honiton back up the pitch. Sadly some injuries in the Honiton team meant that Taunton had to lend players so a special thanks to Freddie Richards, Hugh Hellings and Barney Cooper for showing true sportsmanship and playing for periods for the opposition. Ultimately Taunton won the on the day but this was the hardest test so far this season and we look forward to the return leg in April which looks like it will be a great match.
