The Colts began their National U18's Cup campaign with a convincing win over a very good and well organised Ivybridge side. Straight from the kick off Taunton exerted pressure on the Ivybridge side and were 2 tries to the good within the first 20 minutes. With a powerful scrum platform the Taunton side began to move the ball wide and caused their Devon opponents problems throughout the half. Full credit must go to Ivybridge who refused to lie down and began to put some good phases of play together and were rewarded with a try of their own just before the half time whistle.
In the second half Taunton began to make some simple mistakes which Ivybridge capitalised on and their good lineout eventually found it's way over the line for another try. This seemed to reinvigorate the Taunton side who began to find their stride again and started to battle back and show some good composure and eventually the pressure was too much and they crossed the line again.
With Taunton now back in control they soaked up the pressure really well and managed the game to the final whistle. Credit to both squads who put on a great game of rugby played with high intensity, good spirit and super skills.
