Titans send off Gatty & Chasey in Style
The Titans win against a spirited Redingensians in their last game of the season
This was a game that had a very end of the season feel to it with both teams willing to throw the ball around while the defences weren’t as they would have been a few months ago.
It was the home side that started the brightest when a delayed pass by fly half Ted Landray allowed centre Freddie Fraser to ghost through the gap and then race to the line to score. Gary Kingdom added the conversion for a 7 point lead before Redingensians fly half Jake Atkins kicked a penalty a couple of minutes later.
The Titans then extended their lead with a driving maul try scored by flanker Conor Harbison before the visitors took control. First to score was flanker Tom Vooght followed by winger Conor Corrigan. With Atkins adding a penalty and two conversions the Rams went in at half time 12 – 20 up.
The Titans needed to start the half well and they did just that when back row Arron Gibbs powered over followed straight from the kick off with a length of the field try with Fraser claiming his 2nd. Kingdom converted them both and did so with the Titans last try which was scored by Sam Prior who played on the wing and used his uncharacteristic pace and power to score in the corner. This gave the Titans a 33 – 20 lead with 20 minutes to go.
Such was the tit for tat game, that Taunton then let Rams back into the game which allowed a great finish. First to score for the Rams was Craig Nightingale followed by Gregory Drew in the last play of the game. With Atkins converting the last try from the touch line the final whistle blew and concluded the 2016 – 2017 season with another great entertaining game at Hyde Park.
