On Sunday morning, the football pitch at Carnarvon Street played host to it's 100th game of the season, and to be honest, the pitch is looking remarkably well despite all the action.
The first game of the season was way back on Saturday 2nd July with the first team playing a pre-season game against Carlton Town (a 1-0 defeat). Since then the ground has hosted a pre-season tournament, numerous friendlies, League games for first team, Reserves, Under 19s and the Men's Sunday side. Add to this the chances for the Youth sides to play when the Seniors are away, plus various other charity games and Notts FA & Schools matches, it's easy to see how the total has gone through the roof.
Credit for the longevity of the pitch must go to groundsman Roger Keeling and his small pack of helpers, who are on the pitch whenever the weather allows in order to prepare it for the next fixture.
The pitch will soon get a well deserved rest as the final Baris NCEL fixture next Saturday will be the last game on the pitch. However, before then there are still three more games before then, those being...
Tue 24th April : Dunkirk FC v Southwell City : NMU19L Mini-Shield Final
Wed 25th April : Teversal Res v Borrowash Victoria Res : CMFL Reserves Supreme Division
Thu 26th April : AFC Teversal v Pinxton Sun Inn : Mansfield Sunday League
...and then finish with...
