The Baris Northern Counties East League season will now extend further into May after all the matches due to be played on Wednesday and Thursday were called off because of the very wet weather that has hit the area in recent days.

The Premier Division will continue until Friday 5th May whilst Division One is now due to finish a day earlier.

Of the three matches that were played on Tuesday, Retford United moved to within two points of Premier Division leaders Bridlington Town with a 3-0 home win over Staveley Miners Welfare.

Warren Hatfield and Karl Slack struck twice in the opening period but the hosts could not stretch their lead in the second half even though the visitors had Kyle Forbes-Chambers sent off five minutes after the interval.

The top two sides meet on Saturday at the Neil Hudgell Law Stadium with both Bridlington and Retford knowing that a win will secure them the title.

If it is a draw then Retford would take the trophy with victory in their final game at home to Thackley on Tuesday.

Pickering Town, meanwhile, secured themselves a top twelve finish as they won 2-0 over visitors Arnold Town, Josh Handley's own goal added to in the last twelve minutes by a Jonathan Brown strike.

And, there was disappointment for Barton Town Old Boys in the Final of the Lincolnshire Senior Trophy played at Lincoln City's Sincil Bank ground.

Luke Kennedy's 20th minute goal and an injury time strike from David Wilson saw them go down 2-0 to Holbeach United of the ChromaSport & Trophies United Counties League.
