At the weekend the NCEL posted the following on the official website...

Following a number of requests for information regarding the provisional membership of Scarborough Town in the KoolSport Northern Counties East League, the following statement has been issued.

"Scarborough Town was admitted to the League on a provisional basis at last month's AGM.

"The provisional membership was subject to the club receiving planning permission from Scarborough Town Council for floodlights, hard-standing and covered accommodation at its current ground.

"To date, no such planning approval has been received and the offer of membership will be withdrawn on Wednesday 21st July, 2010, unless written planning approval is received from Scarborough Town Council for all the requirements and the club are able to do the specific work within the required timeframe should planning permission be received."

Tonight (Wednesday 21st July), the NCEL posted the following statement on the site...

The KoolSport Northern Counties East League wishes to announce that it has withdrawn the provisional offer of membership granted to Scarborough Town FC at its AGM on 12th June, 2010.

This withdrawal is due to the Club not receiving planning permission for floodlights, hard-standing and spectator covered accommodation which are all requirements to enable full League membership to be achieved.

The League would like to extend its sincere best wishes to Scarborough Town FC for its future and the League remains fully committed to developing senior National League System football with all interested parties in the future.
